What is legally right or wrong - I seriously don't know. But one thing is certain that if the gang rape victim's friend/ fiance' had not spoken on Zee TV, the public would not have come to know about the near-collapse of the law & order in India. The police, being more engrossed in the debate as to which police station should register the case. The passers-by being too scared to help -scared at the sight of blood & also fearing problems.
Hope, we all learn a lesson from this. Hope India improves in this regard.
