Homosexuality & Supreme Court

Some 50-60 years ago breast milk was replaced by elegant looking feeding bottles in the name of modernity. The ramifications that followed were absolutely frightening. Suddenly many infants, toddlers and children were afflicted with Poliomyelitis that crippled the innocent beings for an entire lifetime.
Immediately, the same society took a 180% shift. Today, if a young mother is unable to feed her young one soon after its entry into the world, Heavens save her! The society doesn't even give her one second of breathing space!
A few years ago, modernity gifted us yet another 'chaos', mainly LIVE-IN relationships. Judicial Courts were not consulted.Young men and women took to this maverick act in the name of modernity. Then came the problem of emotional security, financial security and legitimacy of the children. Modernity was instantly forgotten. The victims, most of them women, went knocking to the courts for justice.
This time for once the Supreme Court of India has taken cognizance of the likely hazards of homosexuality and has acted in advance.
Really, why can't we make genuine attempts to understand what the court is saying! Do we always have to wait for some crippling illness to devour us before we learn our lessons?
Modernity be damned! Let's get a little sensible .

Bhopal Gas Tragedy

Bhopal Gas Tragedy. One of the worst disasters of the 20th century. Many were left maimed. Babies were born with some or the other deformity. It was a kind of Hiroshima and Nagasaki horrors relived.
My husband, I and my 1 old year daughter were on a holiday at Indore. And immediately after 2 days as we left for Durg, we came across dead bodies at Indore station. Later at Bhopal station, we saw Divisional Manager sitting in Station Master's cabin. The entire station was empty except for stray dogs.
Yes, those guilty need to be punished. But is that all? There must be several factories in India producing toxic gases as a by-product. Are we taking precautionary measures there? As per the rules, there should not be any habitation ( approx. 100 km.) in and around such factories. State Governments, Municipal Corporations, the factories and even the media around need to wake up there.
It is really sad that no newspaper or channel has taken cognizance of this fact. This apart, the most horrifying part of the ordeal has been that several actual victims never got any compensation. The crooks managed to get undeserved money by submitting false papers and evidences. Such poor people have consoled themselves by saying that their is a court higher than the court of man where justice will be done. If so, let's hope it happens fast!

(My next blog will be a little late as I will be busy in a family function.)
