Dainik Bhaskar Synergy Awards 2012

Attended the Dainik Bhaskar Synergy Awards on 2nd June'12 at Hotel Fortune Landmark. The dress code was black. It was fun purchasing a black kurta only for the program. Except for 2 or 3, rest all of us were present from Srijan Avertising.
There were various categories of awards. Dainik Bhaskar made sure that every agency got an award. I choose not to comment on the Poster Award. Of course, the dances were superb. And in general, the program was good as also the dinner.
I did not like the Gillette Campaign that was shown on the screen. It was a real waste of client's money. Neither did I like the campaign being tied up with post 26/11 President's speech. It brought back painful memories. And weren't these the very people who had strongly objected to actor Ritesh Deshmukh visiting the gory site with his father (then Chief Minister Vilasrao Deshmukh) soon after 26/11 terror attack? Public memory is indeed very short!
Alaque Padamsee's 'Lalitaji ' will always remain my favorite ad. And for that matter Piyush Pandey's  Fevicol ads and so on. These ads have a strong connection with the Indian audience.

Saddest Day For India. Death of Jagjit Singh. Stay Order on Ajmal Kasab's Death.

www.ndtv.com

Death of Jagjit Singh and Life giving to Ajmal Kasab—truly a cruel joke!

Singer Jagjit Singh’ Death. It’s difficult to imagine that this velvety voice will not sing any new songs. Remember,” Honto se chulo tum…”or his duet with Chitra Singh, “Yeh tera ghar, yeh mera Ghar…” or the famous song from Sarfarosh, “Hosh walon ko khabar kya…”
Jagjit Singh’s voice was beautiful, beautiful & beautiful. India will miss him for sure.

Stay on Ajmal kasab’s death. To think that this stay order could come from the Supreme Court of India! It’s a real shame. Nothing could be crueler than this. So many innocent lives were lost on Nov.26, 2008 in the Terror Attack in Mumbai. The stay order puts a big question mark on the caliber of our judiciary.
I know it is dangerous to say and could even tantamount to giving ideas. But has India forgotten the sordid 1999 Indian Airlines Plane hijacking? Oh, God, when will our judiciary wake up and become wise!
