Forget Wiki Leaks. Resolve 26/11, 2G Scam, Gang Rapes, CWG Issues

As a child I often read stories of Kings and  Rishis who were ensnared by Apsaras while performing Tapasya. As a result, they  failed in their efforts and faced doom and disgrace.
To me, India is the Rishi for whom solving of  26/11, 2G scam, CWG corruption and the Gang Rapes formed the Tapasya which the nation undertook with much reluctance. And just when the country was heading somewhere, the attention was taken over by Wiki Leaks, the ever manipulative Apsara.
Really, in spite of the snail speed and the silly arguments of the defense lawyers (that Kasab would become a martyr if hanged), there was hope that justice would be done to those who suffered in the 26/11 terror attack. But now things really look bleak.
2G scam is yet another important issue that took the country by storm. As somebody teaching Public Relations, I am very much interested in knowing how the government handles the scandal. Lobbying is certainly not a part of Public Relations. In Public Relations we talk of Persuasion and Motivation. Pressure tactics is not our tool. At the same time, I admit to have written advertorials in my capacity as a copywriter. I now realize that it is a wrong practice. But then, all this calls for some strong guidelines. For in advertising, 'advertorial' is yet another way of writing an ad.
It was terrible to read about Gang Rapes that took place one after the other in New Delhi. And just when the cabinet ministers took notice of it, the attention was diverted by Wiki Leaks to a silly and immature remark made by Rahul Gandhi.
What are we doing, Guys? Here, we were pulling our hair out on CWG'10. And now when the Inquiry has been set up, we are allowing ourselves to be diverted by Wiki Leaks?
And who is Wiki Leaks?  Julian Assange is himself facing charges of rape. Should we allow such a person to decide the functioning of our country? Should we allow him to set our priorities?
Really, India has certainly lost its bearings like the ensnared Rishis of the past.

26/11

One year has passed since the ghastly attack in Mumbai. We lost so many lives.

My brother rang up today as to why I had not commented so far. I said to him," I have no words". I really don't know how to console actor Ashish Chowdhary who lost his sister and brother-in-law in the dastardly attack. I don't know how to console the brave wives of the police officers who died fighting the terrorists. Nor do I have the courage to say comforting words to late Maj. Unnikrishanan's parents. The late Major's father has rightly said that brave men like Shahid Bhagat Singh should be born in neighbour's house.

I have done a lot of thinking in this regard and over the last one year. I have asked myself repeatedly, what I would have done as a politician, a lawyer or for that matter as a judge. And the answer I get is that I would have been worse. I would have also tried to be very just, objective and fair! Thus delaying justice and making true the famous adage-Justice delayed is justice undone. I think, we Indians have too much of Dharmaraj (Yudhishthir) in us. When will we come out of 'this' is the question.
